DESCRIPTION The T-33 was developed with Torrey Meister for his powerful progressive style. As his high performance board for surf trips and contests around the world, he wanted a board that would give him speed, instantaneous response and handle some juice when it presented itself wherever he might be. When we received the invitation to Stab in The Dark, we were asked to build the mystery surfer a board for the hollow beach and point breaks of Central America and Mexico. The T-33 was the first board that came to mind considering it was purposely designed for that type of surfer and those types of conditions. Besides knowing we'd be dealing with another of the world's best surfers, they also let us know he'd be 5'10 and 165lbs and the board should be a 5'10 1/2". Designing like we do for most customs but with a lot less information, the board's final dims were decided on and came out as 5'10 1/2 x 18 3/4 x 2 5/16 x 26.86L. Since the wave forecast and the timing of the trip didn't work out, it was decided that the mystery rider, who turned out to be Mick Fanning, would chase typhoon swell in Japan. And even though he didn't get to test it in ideal conditions, Mick raved on how fast and responsive the T-33 was even in the less than perfect stormy swell.
Designed for maneuverability and flow in steep faces and tubing sections, the T-33 has a continuous rocker with a slight flip in the nose and tail. The rockers help the board fit the curve of steeper waves and provide for a tight turning radius at high speeds. Tapered rails and a domey deck work in conjunction with the T-33's rockers to add to its sensitivity for spontaneous moves in the pocket. For the all out speed the single concave gives it, a pulled in tail aids in control. In custom, a squash, swallow, or thumb tail can be ordered to dial in its performance.
