DESCRIPTIONThe Redneck is the combination of a high performance outline with our proven small wave rockers. The name comes to us by 2019 Junior World Champ, Dimitri Poulous and his perpetually sunburned neck. Dimitri had been testing this model for awhile and so we had asked him to come up with something to call it. After a full day of waves and way too much sun, the first thing that popped into his head was Redneck.
Dimitri’s favorite small wave contest board had been our Star Chip because it has plenty of speed and glide. His coach, Mike Lamm, suggested we modify it for Dimitri to add even more performance. The main objective for the Redneck was to maximize turns in the pocket while maintaining speed going in and out of maneuvers. To get the desired result, we narrowed up the outline and then gave it a rounded squash tail while keeping the special small wave rockers. The Redneck generates speed easily, while the narrower outline allows it to be surfed rail to rail and vertically very quickly. A reduction in swing weight in the nose makes for turns that are faster and more whippy than on typical small wave boards. Narrower in the middle encourages speed generation from quicker top to bottom surfing. And finally the Redneck’s rounded squash reduces the tail area some but not too much. We wanted to make it easy to push through radical direction changes but still help maintain speed through flat or slow sections of the wave. FEATURES |
